switchable glass film
What is switchable glass film ?
PDLC ( Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal ) film is also called Switchable film, Smart film or Electronic Window Tint etc. It’s consists of liquid crystal molecules (microdroplets) which are suspended in polymer. When power is applied to the smart film the liquid crystal molecules are forced into alignment, rendering it transparent. Without power off the liquid crystal molecules (microdroplets) are disordered, it will prevents light from penetrating the film, rendering it opaque. PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) film is basically three-dimensional structures composed by liquid crystal microdrops dispersed in a polymer matrix. Polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films are useful in light control applications because they can be switched electrically between light scattering and transparent states.
How does smart glass Works ?
When the power applied is switched ON, the liquid crystal molecules are forced into alignment and smart film panel instantly becomes transparent; When the power applied is switched OFF, the liquid crystal molecules are randomly oriented scattering light and the privacy smart film stays on opaque.
The consist of structure for switchable glass film
Flexible PET film with conductive material coated by high –tech manufacturing facility name “smart web” named ITO film, the percentage of conductive material and PET film quality is a key factor make PDLC film of good quality outstanding with high transmittance, resistance to high voltage shocks. The liquid crystal is sandwiched between the 2 ITO film by lamination machine, this is how the PDLC film is made.
